AGENT WATCH

The trading platform used by 11 million people just shipped a headless terminal. No interface, no confirmation screen, no one watching.

The Capability

Spotware launched cTrader CLI on Thursday, August 20, 2026. It is a command-line app that runs on a trader's own machine.

It does the full job. Sign in, read prices, place and manage orders, run bots, backtest, and optimize.

None of that needs the desktop app open. A bot started as an outside process keeps running after the app closes.

That is the part that matters. The work moves off the screen and onto a server.

AI apps sit on top as an option. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Gemini CLI turn plain English into commands.

Spotware shipped a Linux container image too. A cheap cloud server can now hold the whole setup.

This follows a May release called cTrader AI Agent Connect. That package added two MCP servers and a skills library.

cTrader reports more than 11 million traders and over 300 brokers and prop firms. That is the distribution behind the feature.

Hype Filter

Claimed

Spotware calls itself the first FX platform with official MCP servers for AI trading. CEO Ilia Iarovitcyn said agents are now active participants, not question answerers.

That first claim has a challenger. Spanish trade press noted TraderEvolution Global shipped an MCP server in January 2026.

Independent developers got there earlier still. Open-source connectors to cTrader accounts existed before any official one.

Demonstrated

The plumbing is real and documented. The command set covers accounts, symbols, market data, history, orders, positions, alerts, and bot runs.

Rivals shipped comparable paths. MetaQuotes put an AI Assistant into a MetaTrader 5 beta on July 16.

ThinkMarkets launched ChelseaAI on June 1 and drew a harder line. Its server can place orders but cannot reach deposits or withdrawals.

Clients can also limit which order types are allowed. That is a permission model, and Spotware's is looser.

What nobody has published is results. No broker has released fill quality, win rates, or account survival for agent-run accounts.

Where should you invest $100 right now?

Elon Musk just invented and patented this new AI technology…

And he's predicting it will launch a NEW industry that will grow more than 7 million percent in the coming years.

Even if he's only 10% right, that would still be enough to grow $100 into more than $700,000.

Still Human

Spotware's own documentation is the honest voice here. It says an AI assistant is a helper, not an authority.

The guidance is specific. Run read-only commands first, check every command, and test on a demo account.

Responsibility for each command stays with the trader. That is a legal position, not a technical one.

The institutional side is further behind than retail. One May 2026 survey covered 131 asset managers.

Only 6% let AI make the final investment call. Seventy-four percent used it for back-office work instead.

Wall Street Function It Touches

Two pools, and neither is a trading desk.

The first is the strategy vendor market. Platform stores sell thousands of pre-built bots and indicators to traders who cannot code.

An agent that writes the bot destroys that price. The product was the coding gap, and the gap is closing.

The second is broker risk. Retail brokers price spread, commission, and swap around expected human order counts.

Headless agents change the count and the timing. Flow arriving at 3 a.m. from a cloud server breaks that assumption.

Prop firms feel it hardest. Their evaluation business charges for a test of human discipline under loss limits.

Realistic Time Horizon

The capability is here now. The gap is proof and supervision.

Expect the first broker restriction inside twelve months. Someone will cap agent-run order rates after a bad night.

Rules follow later. The FCA, CySEC, and ASIC have not addressed unattended agent trading in leveraged retail products.

Watch for the first published performance data. Until a broker discloses how agent accounts actually did, this is capability without evidence.

Territory

Territory: +machines on execution, +incumbents on the liability.

Pre-built strategy sales and broker pricing assumptions shift, while every loss still lands on a named human account.
