THE TEARDOWN
$144 billion in stablecoins already sit on Ethereum. The largest US bank just put its own deposits on the same chain.
The Structural Signal
Kinexys by J.P. Morgan put JPMD on the Ethereum mainnet on October 19, 2026. JPMD is the bank’s dollar deposit token.
The token first launched on Base, Coinbase’s layer two, in November 2025. B2C2, Coinbase and Mastercard ran a pilot before that.
The platform numbers are large and worth reading carefully. Kinexys has moved over $4 trillion in total, averaging about $7 billion a day.
Those figures cover all Kinexys products. JPMD’s own volume has not been disclosed.
Emma Landriault, who heads Kinexys Labs, named the two use cases on October 19. Crypto firms for payments, banks and funds for settling trades and posting collateral.
The Mechanical Breakdown
Each JPMD unit equals one dollar a client holds at JPMorgan. It is a bank deposit that moves on a blockchain.
Access is gated. Only approved firms can hold it, through wallets on an approved list.
Now the distinction that carries the whole product. JPMD is not a stablecoin.
It is a bank liability under existing deposit law. The FDIC’s April 2026 proposed rule said a tokenized deposit is simply a deposit.
The legal label does not depend on the technology. That single sentence is why this works.
Follow it to the economics. The GENIUS Act bars stablecoin issuers from paying interest to holders.
A deposit can pay it. Naveen Mallela, co-head of Kinexys, made exactly that argument in November 2025, saying “these can be yield-bearing”.
Insurance is the second gap. JPMD may qualify for FDIC coverage up to $250,000, and no stablecoin carries that.
Now the part that makes the Ethereum move matter. JPMorgan already runs two tokenized money market funds on that chain.
MONY launched in December 2025 and JLTXX in May 2026. The cash and the fund shares now sit on the same ledger.
The hop between them is gone. That is the mechanical change, not the token launch itself.
Programmability sits on top. Kinexys smart contracts trigger payments when set conditions are met.
BMW ran the first fully pre-programmed FX transaction through it. Celent gave JPMD its 2026 Model Bank award in June.
Musk's $119 billion project could send THIS stock soaring
Get In Before November 11th
In May, a Texas county filing revealed plans for Musk’s $119 billion Terafab chip plant.
It could signal the next phase of AI…
One The Wall Street Journal calls “A Massive New Shift in AI Computing.”
If you missed big gains on Tesla or Nvidia, this could be your second chance…
Because one little-known company (not Tesla or SpaceX) holds 150 patents on the technology at the center of this new kind of AI.
This company’s patented tech can produce intelligence 1,000X faster than regular AI.
And it’s about the size Nvidia was when I recommended it in 2016…
Before its 37,800% run…
Which could have turned $5,000 into $1,895,000.
If history repeats itself, this single stock could be enough help fund your whole retirement.
But you must get a stake before November 11…
As I believe this company is just days away from announcing its biggest deal ever.
before November 11.
P.S. The company has a $24 billion backlog and is sold out into 2027, I haven’t seen a setup like this for years. Get the details before November 11.
Legacy vs. Autonomous
Legacy cross-border payment runs through a chain of intermediary banks. Each hop adds cost, time and a reconciliation step.
Large firms pay a percentage of value in fees. The percentage is the business.
Buying a tokenized fund with bank cash was worse still. Before this, the buyer wired dollars off-chain and waited for the clearing cycle.
A stablecoin was the usual bridge. That added a conversion cost and a counterparty nobody wanted.
The autonomous version collapses both. A smart contract matches cash against assets in one step on one chain.
Now where the machine case is weaker than the headline. The $144 billion in stablecoins on Ethereum is open to anyone.
JPMD is not. An approved-wallet model is a private network running on a public chain.
That limits the network effect sharply. A token only two hundred firms can hold is not competing with one two hundred million people can.
The volume question is the honest gap. JPMorgan has published platform totals and not JPMD’s own figures.
And no model runs anywhere in this. The settlement logic is smart contracts matching cash to assets, with no inference in the loop.
Kinexys does run a fraud pilot with BNY, RBC, DeepTempo and NVIDIA, reported in April 2026. That project sits outside JPMD entirely.
Nvidia just bet $7 billion on a new type of AI
Here’s how to profit..
While pundits on CNBC and Fox Business argued about the “AI bubble” for most of the year…
Nvidia invested more than $7 billion into a radical “light-speed” device…
That’s about to shatter the limitations of AI as we know it…
Bill Gates put more than $200 million of his own money into it…
And BlackRock, Vanguard, Morgan Stanley, even Norway’s trillion-dollar sovereign wealth fund, are all moving money to prepare for what’s coming.
Already, stocks involved with this “light-speed” device are breaking out 133%, 217%, even 320%…
But it’s just getting started.
In fact, Wall Street insider Jason Bodner — the same man who called Nvidia at $4.50 — says this radical device is about to launch a whole new wave of AI winners…
And to prove it, he’s giving away his #1 stock involved with it — for free.
(No purchase necessary.)
Jason also flagged 10 popular AI stocks he believes will get crushed once this radical device goes mainstream. Click here to get the full list before it’s too late..
Capital Flow Implications
Three pools move, and the first is enormous.
Cross-border payments bring in over $290 billion a year, per McKinsey in August 2026. They are 20% of volume and half of all transaction revenue.
At domestic-level margins, banks would lose most of that. The same report says so.
Every JPMD transfer that skips an intermediary cuts two things. The lifting fee, and the FX spread attached to it.
The second pool is reconciliation. Matching staff exist because cash and assets live in different systems.
One chain removes the matching, not just the delay. That is operations headcount, not float.
The third is the stablecoin bridge itself. Buying a tokenized fund no longer needs a conversion leg.
Look at what is now settleable. BlackRock’s BUIDL held about $2.3 billion on October 19, roughly $2 billion of it on Ethereum across 55 holders.
JPMD can settle against that on the same chain. BlackRock also put European money market funds on Ethereum through Kinexys this month.
On the scoreboard, on-chain settlement volume moves up and the crossover count adds one.
Verdict
Intermediary fees shrink. So does the spread for bridging cash on one chain to assets on another.
But read who built the bypass. JPMorgan did, and the deposit stays on JPMorgan’s books.
That is the whole defensive design. A stablecoin moves the balance to an issuer’s reserve, and a deposit token does not move it at all.
Watch for a disclosed JPMD volume figure. Platform totals are not product adoption, and the gap between them is where the story actually sits.
Watch the approved-wallet list next. The day a firm JPMorgan does not bank can hold JPMD, this stops being a private network.
Territory: +machines on settlement rails, +incumbents on the deposit.
The intermediary fee pool compresses while JPMorgan keeps the balance on its own books.
